The Simhachalam temple is the most famous, the richest, the best sculptured shrine in the district. The picturesque temple is situated on a hill 800 ft. above sea level in the hill range of Eastern Ghats and a distance of 6 kms from Simhachalam Railway Station. Private buses ply regularly from Visakhapatnam to Simhachalam. The inscriptions of the temple (about 525 in all) are valueable for the study of history and culture of the region.
